MMC-Based PV Three-Phase System with Distributed MPPT

The use of distributed maximum power point tracking (DMPPT) algorithms is spreading because their higher efficiency in the case partial shading. possibility integrating photovoltaic (PV) modules a modular multilevel converter (MMC) connected to grid has been proposed recent literature with advantage DMPPT algorithms. In shading, circulating currents control necessary extract available and inject symmetric grid. Novel strategies for both ac dc current components three-phase MMC-based PV were analyzed this work. Thanks presence capacitor dc-side MMC, could freely be controlled from all any irradiance condition while maintaining low losses. Moreover, contrast previous works, instead measuring active legs compensating imbalance using open-loop control, leg mismatches are compensated exploiting loop generated through closed controls. effectiveness strategy was proved by simulations performed MATLAB Simulink.
